Group/Workshop Description

This 12-week group program (Wednesdays 6:30-8:00 pm, starting June 3rd) is designed to help teens and young adults (ages 14-24) develop practical tools to cope with anxiety, depression, and trauma. Grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and inspired by Dr. Janina Scarlet’s Superhero Therapy, participants will explore how to harness their inner strength and resilience—just like their favorite superheroes—to face life’s challenges with confidence. https://www.superhero-therapy.com/ Program Overview: Through a combination of mindfulness techniques, ACT principles, and superhero-based metaphors, participants will learn how to: Accept and embrace difficult emotions: Cultivate psychological flexibility by accepting anxiety, sadness, or fear without judgment. Develop mindfulness skills: Learn grounding techniques, breathing exercises, and self-compassion practices to manage overwhelming thoughts and feelings. Identify personal values and strengths: Connect with what matters most and take meaningful action, just like superheroes who fight for justice and their values. Build resilience: Recognize the power within to overcome obstacles, turning perceived weaknesses into sources of strength. This program is ideal for young individuals seeking to improve emotional well-being, develop coping strategies, and build mental resilience while exploring their inner “superhero.” The group setting fosters a sense of community and support, where participants can share their journeys, learn from each other, and grow together. Max: 10 participants, open-group format *Note: sessions will build on each other over the duration. Each session is 90 minutes Self-pay and insurance accepted within provider contracted networks.
